If the person truly wants to quit then hypnotherapy can be effective. However, being hypnotized will not 'make' you do anything you don't want to do. If she's ready to quit, then yes, it may help.

I do want to say that if hypnotherapy doesn't work, that does not imply that the individual really wasn't ready to quit. Like any therapeutic intervention, it may simply not get to the core issue. Just didn't want anyone thinking that I'm saying if it doesn't work then you just don't want it badly enough - not the case at all.
