Well, if forced to choose fiction I guess I'd say Herman Hesse because after a quick wikipedia glance/researching them both, it just seems like of the two H.H. led the more interesting life, which I think tends to makes for a much better author of fiction. However my two favorite books ever have been old dictionaries each of them similar to the one in the picture below.
Would you rather rather live inside a natural history museum or a museum of art if for the rest of your life you were never allowed to leave whichever one it was you chose?
