When someone introduces their partner, wife or Hus-Butch or Boi-friend or Girlfriend as The Other Half, they're referencing someone of great importance, someone who they share their life with, someone they will love until the end of time.

Oh I think SOMETIMES that also refers to the idiom "Ball And Chain" as well! Other Half sounds much nice IMHO
