Far as I can figure, this is the right thread. Never occurred to me that "rat race" only referred to "job" situations. I was simply suggesting that "rat race" is also useable in terms of where we struggle in communities of relationships where primacy is often based on "doing what it takes" to "get along" and pleasing
some so get accepted amongst others, and to have had the courage to "step out".

To me, "rat race" is the obverse of being drowned at the bottom of an unaccepted, pool that you just didn't have the social skills to avoid.

I'll make it simple...so many of our most wonderful, interesting and surviving Sisters got left behind behind they when they simply couldn't find a way to do more than be tossed into the mass of "interesting" examples used by "successful leaders of the movement in their own rise to the top.
