I suspend mine in witch hazel..ants do not like peppermint especially because it covers their scent tracks..my concoction is, peppermint, lavender, cedar, rosemary..and this year i am adding some white vinegar..(i hear) they hate it..my spouse asks me to make it every year he says the ants must hate it because they leave and don't come back...if you are talking about sugar ants that is something entirely different..i'm not sure this recipe would work for them.
