Feeling better since I got home.

I thought for sure I would be robbed in Walmart parking lot tonight at 11:30 p.m.

I was exiting Walmart with a huge buggy of groceries. My truck was sitting alone ... four empty rows on both sides of it. I unlocked and opened both doors on the driver side and had put one bag in the back when a mid size late model sports car came very quickly, pulled up so their driver side door was facing mine. All the windows had dark tint. First I turned, faced the car with my hands on my hips and glared at the car for about thirty seconds. Next, I took my shotgun out of a tube thru the suicide door, turned it upside down, gazed in the well and racked it, making certain the person in that car so close was the only one who could see what I was doing. Put it on the front seat in easy reach at a good grab angle if I needed it ... went back to unloading groceries which took a good fifteen minutes. The car did not move even after I drove away.

I don't know. Perhaps I read this situation incorrectly and over-reacted or maybe I didn't.

Thinking on the drive home ... if it was innocent, any decent person would have driven away after they saw me alarmed enough to pull out a shotgun and rack it.

Funny thing, it had no shells in it. I never carry a loaded shotgun in the truck. It goes totally against my safety and comfort level. Too many accidental discharges happen with these type firearms. I did slip shells into my jacket pocket when I removed it from the tube. If necessary, I could have easily loaded a couple of shells as I pulled it off the front seat.

It is a fact, parking lot robberies increase around Christmas time.

Everyone, please be aware of your perimeters when you are out and about this time of year. Pay close attention!

Sad that some people will become a statistic.
