2 to 3 days on metal and plastic. Meat is stored and shipped refrigerated or frozen. Generally temperature has an effect on how long things last outside of the body. Long story short, if you were to contract it from food packaging, someone in the store is more likely to have shed the virus onto the packaging than to think it lasted from the processing plant to the store then into your hand.
