not a fan of notched style joinery especially with logs, i prefer the butt method and using rebar to secure the logs together..you're just asking for trouble if you notch a log on both sides..logs get wet and once you cut into the soft core of a log rot can set in quick and your join may not last 20 years....i'm not a carpenter but i come from a long line of carpenters in my family tree, boat, finish, cabinetmakers..so i have sawdust in my bones and a love for trees...maybe someday, i will build my log cabin..
