Elliptical: 513 calories burned, 4.26 miles completed, 65:00 minutes, 15:14 average pace, 4 minutes of energy used to light that darn bulb

Initially, I wasn't having a good time. I hopped on the elliptical and started off and got winded quick. I looked down to see how much time had passed and it was only 5 minutes. Oy.

After that, it got better. I think I put my body in shock it's been so long since I've been on a machine. I walk a LOT at work and do quite a bit of manual labor type stuff, which usually puts me somewhere in the 15,000-20,000 step a day range---which is great---but it's not the same motion as working on a machine.

I also did something I haven't done in years, just because. For some, especially those who've struggled with eating and/or exercise disorders, this would most likely not be a good idea but I weigh myself daily. I like to see the natural fluctuations of my body and I can catch upswings faster than if I did it weekly. That's not the thing, though.

I used to weigh myself first thing in the morning and then after my workout when I had early morning workouts. I found it very interesting to see what transpires in my body when I stress it physically plus there's the water intake to consider. Some days, I would break even and some days I would be a little under in the second reading. It was rare that I would come back with a higher number than when I did it the first time unless it was excessively hot and/or I had an excessively long workout, both of which would lead to a higher water consumption.

Today, I came back 2 ounces lighter than when I left home and I drank close to 8 ounces of water during the workout. Yes, I was a wee bit sweaty during the workout.

Though I do find it a bit fascinating how the body functions when I work out, it's all for naught, because as soon as I get back, I eat well and drink at least 16 ounces of juice and water.

But I can compare today's numbers to next quarter's numbers and so on. I really like being able to see the results of my hard work, both short and long term.
I get it and good on you for trying something new/mixing it up a bit.

I weigh myself each morning because otherwise (I fear) I will gain weight. It works for me ...

Had a bette-than-expected ride this morning after taking a break for a few days. I always expect it to be hard to ride after not riding for even a day or so ... and it's always easier to pick up than imagined. Go figger.

Anyway, it was a good ride while listening lectures instead of music.
