Happy March everyone! I hope this is finally springtime, though just in time for peak storm season here.
Ohio is certainly not as "wow" as Ghana or a sunny island, but it is Grainne's destination in late April for a genealogy conference, four days of classes, workshops, and social activities. I'm also receiving a certificate due to having proved my roots in Ohio pre-1850. On my trip there (driving from my home), I'm stopping for a day in the happening city of Fort Wayne, Indiana for research at the Allen County Public Library, one of the largest genealogical libraries in the country. It's actually reported to be a pretty city, with interesting sites, so I'll probably do some exploring, too.
Lately, with my great push at my family history, a research trip appeals even more than sightseeing somewhere (though a British Isles cruise next year is calling my name). I must be the only person on the planet who would go to Fiji not for sun and beach, but for scouring the local cemetery, searching for a cousin who became an anthropologist there in the early 1900's. I found his story fascinating.
I'm now glad to be a solo traveler. I want to research all day, or be in classes, without worrying about boring my companion (unless we were doing the same thing).
