For my Pop, 1912-1999
I grew up feeling like an owl raised by chickens and you showed me you too were a owl.
You gave me the calm stability and displayed an alternative path to me and taught me that education was the key to escape.
The world I grew up through was hash and torturous in huge swaths and you helped install tools that I would be able to use later to make sense of it all.
I can, to this day, see your handwriting echoed in my own because you taught me how to write.
Of all the things I love at my core, good things I was able to salvage from my childhood, you gave them to me or taught them to me.
I miss you so much, I wish I could talk to you now and tell you about being accepted into a master's program, about my life in Texas, about training my dog and learning new techniques, about my students and my passion for teaching. I love you.
