You know something, the part of your post that I quoted above really spoke to me. I also am better friends with the night than the day. I think it's because everything quiets down so much--the background roar mostly goes to sleep and I can finally have peace, blessed peace.

Snowfall does the same thing. Something about snow hugely dampens psychic vibes. I don't know whether it's some kind of forcefield effect or whether people naturally respond to snow but turning their thoughts inward, but either way, the background roar cuts off entirely during snowstorms. If there were a way to afford the heating bills and to grow food, I would be happy for a world of constant snow!
