4 weeks?? That seems awfully long time. Something like this is a 30 min job.

By pushed-down, do you mean it's under the casing? If so, this may or may not be something you can resolve. Laptops tend to be a little more of a challenge. I'd say that using some tape to cover the hole and continue using the USB mouse should be fine.
