Hi Cody,
I feel your pain. I swim about a mile and a half four days a week. I started swimming four years ago after a lot of encouragement
<read> nagging from my doctors and physical therapists. They said it was the best thing I could do and
should do to avoid further damage to my back or knees.
I hated swimming and was really resistant, but now I love it. I had the same worries as you at first because I knew I would stick out like a sore thumb with all my tattoos, hairy legs and armpits, and the fact that I look more like the guys than the girls.

I wasn't sure what to wear and was really uncomfortable at first. My pool has a "dress code," but they just don't really want you wearing cutoffs, t-shirts, or sports bras. I wear a Speedo or similar one piece, solid color, with jammers (long swim trunks made out of nylon or polyester, my preference). I also often wear a rash guard, which is a shirt made of the same material. Occasionally if it's really hot I'll wear a competition-style top (which is sort of like a sports bra) with my jammers. This is a great site to buy everything for swimming
