I light a candle for my sister, Dolores, who has cancer. She, the Matriarch of the family, is determined to come to the states from Switzerland, where she currently lives, on February 11th. I just spoke to her ... it seems that the brain metastasis may be pressing on her optic nerve and causing visual disturbances. Dolo is also disoriented as to time, which may be a function of her narcotic pain meds and/or brain metastasis. Her voice is very weak today.
My candle is lit today, and my prayers spoken, in the hope that she can make her journey here. For her sake. Because she wants to. Because she has the determination of a strong, willful woman. I chant and I cheer her on ...
