When I don't get invited to a party (any party), I feel hurt and left out--even parties of neighbors who I don't know very well. Being included is a thing of mine, leftover issues from junior high.
I walked past my cat this evening and she high-fived me.
There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't feel incredibly lucky and grateful for my family, love, job, and home. And, I believe that gratitude is the key to happiness.
My honey already started showering me with Valentine goodies. So far, chocolate covered strawberries and fancy caramel and chocolate covered apples, new pillows, a cool organizer for my car, and a bus day trip to Boston in March. Tomorrow is dinner out and a movie. I'm such a lucky girl.
I always get so surprised when someone, otherwise intelligent and worldly, expresses bigotry. It happened today, when a client was telling an interesting story about his life, and all of a sudden, I heard, "...and it was because of the Jews." I was trying to keep my professional hat on my head, but I felt like crying.
