the not-war in Libya
we are now fighting wars, declared or not, on three fronts, when the country is officially economically broke! schools are being shut down; teachers are being fired; the infrastructure is falling apart....
also, we are supposedly "aiding the freedom-seeking people of Libya and protecting civilians." what about those in countries like the Sudan, Yemen, Egypt, etc? Where the country either holds no strategic value for us or the ruler is a ally of the US? Also what about the protests that were violent and quickly suppressed in Saudi Arabia, the country that funds more extremist madrassas that encourage jihad against any non-believer of it's own Wahabbist (sorry to use that word but don't know another) Islamic sect than any other Islamic country in the world?
the US uses rhetoric to justify it's actions but behaves like any other super-power-in it's own interests! yes, we also do great humanitarian work, but much of it is spent in building back countries which WE destroyed!
i don't normally sound off about politics, but i'm so tired of the hypocritical face we show, both to ourselves and to the world. i apologize to any veterans or soldiers-i don't criticize you for following orders you are given. it's the political system which sometimes (if i think about it too much) that makes me sick.
i know i'm going to get flak for this post but so be it. every once in ten yrs or so, i have to vent!
namaste,
DamselFly
