The U.S. Air Force Airmen I work with are beginning to take mandatory training as part of the steps of repealing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.
After all these years, I see unfolding the final righting of a terrible wrong done to many, many honorable, squared away Servicewomen and Servicemen. Finally, after all these years, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual folks will be able to serve openly and without fear.
These are fine men and women who serve in uniform today. By and large, I have seen positive and nonjudgemental attitudes expressed towards GLBTQ people by these young folks. Only time will tell how this all will turn out, but my opinion from what I've seen is this: We have a very good first start.
Still smiling......
