I thought that I'd give my perspective on 'why all the fuss about a wedding' as an American living in the UK. I don't post on the forums much, mostly because I don't think anything I would have to say would be of either any interest or would just bait the flame throwers, and because I get very disgusted when I hear what is being said in here and how people speak to one another want no part of it...and I really don't have the time. My garden needs tending and the dogs need walking and, frankly, my heart and mind do not thrive on online conflict.

I am honored to be here in the United Kingdom and have hung out the bunting and and put up the British flag to celebrate a great day with my neighbours. England is a country of Kings and Queens and a rich history. Hollywood loves English Royalty...remember Elizabeth, Elizabeth the Golden Years, The King's Speech, The Other Boleyn Girl...and those are just recent movies.

This is the United Kingdom's cultural identity. This wedding gives the people of the United Kingdom pride and hope, most certainly it brings people together for a joyous reason. Lady Diana was well beloved and many people who loved and respected her see this as a time to remember her and to witness the marriage of her son William, the future King of the United Kingdom, because she never lived to see this day. It is an honor to be here because this is no ordinary wedding; this is history in the making and we are here to see it and as a very lovely 90 year old British man said on our news this morning " It makes me proud to be British and is a memory that will be with us all for the rest of our lives".

This is not just any wedding. These are not movie stars or multi-millionaires. This is the future King, a symbol of the United Kingdom for millions and millions of people...an estimated 2.5 Billion people watching all over the world...I think that, of all the things costing a bundle (like 2.4 Billion dollars on the American presidential elections...including 779.4 million on just one candidate's campaign) this is fully justified because the people of the United Kingdom would expect nothing less. This is their wedding too and I am happy Prince William realizes that and has shared it with us all.

So, on that note, I'm going to don my asbestos jumpsuit and get out of here...but please check out these over-priced nuptials....

Happy Royal Wedding Day!!!
