A friend of Mine.. her best friend lost her brother last night to a drunk driver. The drunk driver was in her mid-20's. She had 4 other passengers in the car with her. She went up over a curb onto a sidewalk and struck him at 100mph. She then proceeded to leave the scene of the accident. Fortunately the other 3 people standing there talking in the group were able to get out of way. One was not so fortunate. All I could think of was.. what if that was Me. What would I have done if someone showed up at My door at 6:15am to tell Me that one of My brother's or sister had been run down - killed almost instantly. Now, the driver (so young) will be charged with vehicular homicide (not manslaughter).. leaving the scene.. reckless endangerment.. speeding.. and who knows what else. For what? One night of partying.. when they probably could have had just as much fun partying at home and never drove.

My heart goes out to Joann's brother .. may he find peace.. and to Joann's family.. that they come together at this time and remember their family member with love. It also goes out to the young driver and her family. They will have to carry this with them the rest of there lives.
