When I was kid and teenager it rained every day in the summer here in Northwest Fla. You could have set your watch by it It's not nearly as consistent these days. Even though Florida is a tropical region, we've actually been experiencing drought conditions for like, a decade.
Don't let the rain keep you inside. Storms blow in and back out again rather quickly. Drop by a Dollar store and pick up plenty of cheap umbrellas to keep in convenient places (Work, home, car, gym, etc.). I don't spend real money on umbrellas either. Sure as you do, you'll forget it's your good one and try to use when a hurricane is rolling in -- it'll get turned inside out and be useless after that. LOL! ... Glad to see you got to the beach!
Peace
