What I am having trouble with with DWTS is that none of them are really doing the job in terms of technique. Ricki Lake probably has done the best with this. It is so Hollywood glitsy. But it looks like a lot of people like it- but it not really a serious dance program. I never watched it before this- I wanted to learn how to vote so I could support Chaz as a queer.
The thing I have a problem with DWTS is also the technique, plus also the music they choose for each of the dances rarely fits in any way at ALL with the dance itself. Not saying that the timing of the music to the steps isn't choreographed, but they are always choosing a modern, oftentimes pop song for more classic ballroom dances. Something that the masses will readily recognize.

My last partners' family is in the dance business. They have taught ballroom dancing for decades, and own several studios around the country. A couple of her family members actually go out to CA each season for the show, and get backstage with all the dancers.
