I'm grateful for:
1. A great job that connects me with other Vets, and I'm grateful for all of the wonderful stories they tell about the things they've done and the difference they've made in this world. It reminds me to never forget the obligation that I have to also make a positive difference for those who will follow after me. It also reminds me of the value of humility. Everyone has a story to tell.
2. I'm grateful for the love of a wonderful woman. This reminds me that love also commands respect, patience and devotion. It also requires the work of the heart, and there is nothing as sacred as that.
3. I am grateful for the enduring love and support of my friends and family. It reminds me of the connection we all have to each other. No one walks the path alone, though sometimes I tend to live too much inside myself and withdraw. We all need each other.
4. I am grateful for all of the many material things I have in my life, because they remind me of where I've been before, when I didn't have them. There is a quiet satisfaction in enjoying the fruits of hard work and sacrifice. It reminds me to continue to be charitable to others who don't have all that I do, and that some are far more worthy of these blessings than I. It also reminds me that life itself is a game of chance and choice. We take a chance and hope the choice pans out to be the right one. As Mother says, "Fortune favors the bold".
5. I am grateful for Myron, who always shows me how even the smallest of lives can impact larger ones. The sweetest of loves can sometimes come in the smallest of packages, indeed.
