A BIG hug from one of the Disabled Art Studio attendants….in the 4 years I’ve been an Arts co-ordinator there, she has hardly spoken to me. Her brother moved to New Zealand 7 years ago and my accent upsets her deeply because she misses him so much. I try to do my volunteering there on the days she doesn’t attend, but, I can’t always do that…. so for her to come up to me and give me a BIG hug must have taken a lot of courage for her.

I couldn’t stop the tears flowing down my cheeks and one of the paid Art co-ordinators told me that she has never hugged anyone in the 10 years she been going there.
