I always have a sad twinge this time of year. My maternal grandfather passed on Christmas Day and, though I didn't know him well enough to grieve his loss, it hurt me to see my mom grieve for him. Now that mom's gone, it's like a double dose of sadness. Even though she didn't pass on this day, I remember them both. Some years it hurts more than others.
