Self reliance ::: I have accepted that I will be living where I am right now for a long time. Don't get me wrong it's FABULOUS. I'm in my favorite part of town, looks like the woods but is 12 minutes from downtown, and is larger than I have ever lived in by myself. Lot's of light, peaceful, etc, etc. Problem is my furniture does not fit. SO I have been selling on Craigslist and buying pieces more to scale.
Yesterday I asked a friend to help me pick up a desk, in another town, but to no avail. Sigh, I went by myself anyway. The desk was perfect (I collect antiques) Soooooooo........ I put the top of my convertible down, and a little 90lb woman and I figured how to make it fit. We got an almost 5' desk into the back seat. Drove down the freeway with Queen Anne desk legs sprouting into the air and hair flying in the 40 degree wind, (LOL yes the other drivers avoided me) but I got it home. Then sat out front trying to figure out how in the heck to get it upstairs.
I saw a neighbors light on, and went and asked him if he could help me, and he was so gracious. He carried it all by himself up the stairs and into my house. And it's heavy. Now this lovely desk is sitting in my living room, waiting for me to reorganize the office. That makes me smile. Cause I was brave enough to go by myself, even when I knew I could not do it alone
