Actually the weirdest thing about it is that halfway through I found myself beginning to think of them as wild horses or antelope, some kind of herd creatures trying to survive in the urban and suburban wilds... Gryph and I laughed ourselves silly reading the book but then afterwards... well, afterwards the thrill of spotting them in the wild was definitely decreased by the sorrow I felt whenever I came across a dead one.
