Leslie (Cochran) has been an Austin icon for a long time.

He was found unconscious October 3rd 2009 and had to have brain surgery. The news said he had a stroke and a "head injury from a fall," but he stated he had been attacked.

He survived that but never fully recovered, and he turned 60 eight months ago. He recently announced he was leaving Austin to move back to Colorado, but before he could leave he was found unconscious in a parking lot, and yesterday he passed away. March 8th has been declared Leslie Day by the mayor, and the city council had a moment of silence in his honor. A memorial will be held for him on Sunday at Auditorium Shores.

Here he was the first time he ran for mayor back in 2000.

And here is a video where he says he was attacked by 5 people.

The news never reported he was attacked or that he reported being attacked, but instead say he had a "fall." This injury back in 2009 was the beginning of his declining health.

Anyway, RIP Leslie and thanks for being you.
