Don't know how crafty this is, but I save all the ends and melt-off from candles I burn. Once the mason jar I keep it all in is full, I will melt the wax together (melt it in a tin can on the stove), and make fire starters. To do that, you need some old, cardboard egg cartons. Fill the carton with wood chips (like the kind you use in hamster cages. but not used. that's just gross.) and whatever spices or nice smelling things you can find (I like dried western cedar, bits of cloves, and/or bits of cinnamon). Carefully pour wax over each space in the carton and let cool. It doesn't have to be a lot of wax, either...Just enough to hold it together. You can use the entire carton all at once for a BIG fire or cut the carton into smaller squares and use them one at a time.
