I know I am loved by the look in her eyes, the feel of her when I am lying in her arms, the slight grin when I look at her looking at me.. by the butterflies in my stomach when her fingertips caress my arm, by the slight pressure of her lips on my forehead, by the constant physical contact there always is between us... by the way we cut each other off to finish the other one's sentence, how she will throw her hands in the air and shake her head and say 'yes, dear' when I am being particularly bossy/Mrs.Know-It-All .. by the little love notes and handpicked flowers, by the spontaneous breakfast in bed, and CSI: NY nightly marathons that are our ritual next to lying in bed reading for hours...

I know I am loved when the kiddo puts a pillow on the floor when I leave the room so that when I come back, I don't have to "hurt my butt sitting on the floor" while we play video games. Because she pulled out a blanket and draped it over my lap first and then pulled it over her and scooted closer.. because she will humor me even if it is something she doesn't necessarily want to do... Because anytime I attempt to dodge a question with a vague response (much like our parents do, eh?), her logic and curiosity get the best of me.

I know I am loved because the pup tries to bulldoze me over when I come home.. because she curls up beside me in bed, and nuzzles her nose into my neck.. because she is so tolerant of me glomming on her that she will let me cuddle her until I pass out and then move to a more comfortable spot - but always by my side.

I know I am loved because my dad texted me today wishing me luck on my interview, and my mom just texted me asking how it went and said it sounds encouraging. Despite our differences, I know they love me and I them. It was a rocky path to get to where we are, and while they still disagree on some things, they've accepted the ability to step back and let me make my own life choices.
