Once again I have gone overboard. Obsessive much? I guess. Anyway some oldies here somebody is sure to recognize.
I do love a well turned phrase.
__________________________________________________ ______________

Was that a raindrop or a tear in your eye?,
were you drying your nails or were you waving good by?

When something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know

You want to fight for this love, but honey you cannot wrestle a dove.

You managed to crawl
Inside my brain
You found a hole
And then you came

I can't light no more of your darkness,
all my pictures seem to fade to black and white

I found an island in your arms
A country in your eyes
Arms that chain,
Eyes that lie

Lullabies look in your eyes,
run around the same old town,
doesn't mean that much to me
to mean that much to you.

Like a worm on a hook
Like a knight bent down in some old-fashioned book
It was the shape of our love that twisted me

If I have been unkind
if I have been untrue
It’s just that I thought a lover had to be some kind of liar too

I was waiting waiting on a moment
But the moment never came
All the million other moments
Were just slippin all away

I'm guilty of a dreadful selfish crime.
I have robbed myself of all my precious time....
One thing I have found, there are just two ways to go,
it all comes down to living fast or dying slow.

I shot the morning in the back
With my red wings on
I told the sun it better go back down

I've got this store-bought way of saying I'm okay,
and you learned how to cry in total silence.

Oh I used to be disgusted
and now I try to be amused

We swore to each other that our love would surely last.
You kept right on loving, I went on a fast,
now I am too thin and your love is too vast.

Oh sometimes I see her undressing for me,
she's the soft naked lady love meant her to be
and she's moving her body so brave and so free.
If I've got to remember that's a fine memory.

All you touch and all you see,
Is all your life will ever be.

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking.
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

I've been trying to get down to the heart of the matter
but my will gets weak
and my thoughts seem to scatter
but I think it's about forgiveness...
forgiveness,
even if you don't love me anymore.

People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share,

The love you take is equal to the love you make.

A man walks down the street,
He says, Why am I short of attention?
Got a short little span of attention,
And whoa, my nights are so long!

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night
It’s not somebody who has seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah.

Well I turned around and I said ho, ho
And the northern lights commenced to glow
And she said, with a tear in her eye
Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow

You win a while, and then it’s done –
Your little winning streak.
And summoned now to deal
With your invincible defeat,
You live your life as if it’s real,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.
