I think those are both pretty awesome. And I'd have no problem whatsoever wearing a kilt. I'd do it! I'm just glad it's no longer a case of butches having to fit what society deems ALL women must wear. I love the individuality for women all along the spectrum, for butches and femmes and anyone else.

Dresses on butches. Just not a pretty picture.
Oh I am glad women were allowed to wear pants...trust me...I was tired of feeling the snow blow up my dress when I stood outside for the bus in January. I dont think we as a culture went downhill because we were allowed to wear pants. We lept from the Cliff of Saneness with the Beatles and the british invasion. As for butches wearing dresses..oh lord...I am SO glad that era is over! That would be like me packing a small boy in my panties...:::shivering..NO thank you anyways.. but you get my point...right?

I'm a lot less concerned about some kids wearing crass t-shirts than I would have been during the time when there was segregation and it was socially acceptable to use racist language.

How far do parents let their children get before panic sets in? There's a reason for that.
The tee shirts don't bother me very much. As to the racist language, it's still being used. Blatantly. Proudly. In many areas. Whether it's deemed socially acceptable doesn't mean a hill 'o beans to those that use it.
People had more respect for one another then, in their own social circles specifically. Manners were taught. Parents didn't have to worry about kids hearing vulgar language on the streets or radio as much as they do now. As far as we have come, I think some steps have been taken backwards.

A trade-off, no?
I think some things have gone downhill, particularly as there have been more two-parent working homes and lesss time spent with kids. And I'll even throw in the unbelievable spoiling of kids and the way few seem to have a solid work ethic.
There are a lot of things that are better these days.
But mostly, everything still needs work.
