When I was about 5 years old I had a crush on my next door neighbour. I thought Evan was really dreamy and I wanted him to be my boyfriend. That is, I THOUGHT Evan was a him. Years later, long after we had moved away, I learned that Evan was a girl! My first crush on a tomboy.

Many years later I was finally invited to a party with the 'cool kids' in my High School. It was Hawaiian themed, and the girls were supposed to wear things like bikini tops with sarongs around our hips. I obliged. The boys wore loud Hawaiian shirts and stood in a group watching us watching them. Then I spotted Diane T., a jock and a tomboy, hanging with the boys and wearing the same kind of loose fitting shirt and shorts they were.

Oh. OOOH! I got it.
