They're too distracted by everything else going on around them or by the media. When something tells you on a cellular level that you are not safe, you should listen. Exactly. We are taught from a young age NOT to listen to it because when we withdraw or recoil from someone, for whatever reason, it's "not nice" and "impolite" and "don't we want to be nice?"

If folks were taught to listen to their instincts, there is no telling what wonderful things we could experience!
