Default saturday night fail

A friend really pissed me of tonight. He invited me to a party a couple of friends of his where throwing, one of whom I'd met once before. He said it would be a good opportunity for me to meet some new people in this city.

So I went to this party where I knew NO ONE, and they had all clearly known each other since the dawn of time. People kept asking me how I knew the hosts, and I explained that a mutual friend had invited me but he wasn't there yet. They were all friendly and empathic about the awkwardness of the situation, but eventually went to back to catching up with and talking to their friends about vacations, jobs, and kids, while I tried to get the cat to pay attention to me.

The host had called him a few times asking what was going on, and apparently he was no longer sure what he wanted to do, he might show up later, etc. Thanks for the warning, buddy.

After a few hours, my friend still hadn't shown and I eventually left. I haven't heard from him all night.

My god. I cannot believe I shaved my legs for that bullshit.
