The documentary is right. I am in this industry and the auctioneers we use have been on properties where the tapings for these shows occur. They bait the units by buying up a bunch, sorting through them for the good stuff, putting the good stuff in one or two units off camera and then relocking and recutting and reselling the unit on camera.

Total fakery but most of reality TV is nowadays. I say let them eat cake if that's what they want.
