1. I love to spend hours at the gym. On cardio machines I watch t.v. or movies on a portable dvd player. Then I listen to nothing but my counting and lift weights and do yoga and stretches by myself. The gym feels like a place of spirituality for me.
2. For years I've liked to play a game I made up called "Get to Know me" based on an old Saturday Night Live ongoing character skit by Jon Lovitz with the same title (
http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-li...know-me/n9794/ ). The idea is that I and the other person take turns asking each other questions for the simple purpose of getting to know things about each other. It's different from the "truth" in truth or dare because it doesn't have a goal to make the person on edge but truly to get to know the person more (and if the person feels uncomfortable with the question, they can ask for another as much as they want). If you ever see me at the Reunion and want to play this game, just let me know. It's a very chill activity.
3. I love that BB and I belong to a Jewish synagogue that is so progressive that it has a definition page in the front of it's program for words like "cisgender" and always a reminder that all bathrooms at the synagogue are open to everyone. Literally thousands of people attend the free holiday services led by our lesbian rabbi, and it makes me feel good about living in NYC.
4. If a close friend tells me that it feels disloyal for me to talk to someone who they feel they've been wronged by, then I won't, because loyalty is tremendously important to me. Otherwise, I tend to be friends with everyone at varying levels of closeness.
5. I talk to my mom on and off on the phone all day. BB thinks we are funny together and loves to listen to us talk, which is lucky, because we live in a small apartment!
