It's a long story...but I'll tell you the short version.

Okay so I've had ol' Edna thawing out in the fridge for 2 days now; Edna is a hen, don't ya know. Anyway, Edna was supposed to be my hen that I was going to cook in the backyard oven, except the weather has turned a bit foul in these parts, and without giving me a proper warning, at that! And so it came to be that I had to cook ol' Edna some other way, and do my backyard hen at another time.

So today, ol Edna went into my big 6 qt crock pot along with some diced tomatoes, red potatoes, fresh carrots

, green beans, garlic, onion and some other secretive type spices and now ol' Edna is the centerpiece for a chicken crock stew!
