________MEN and sandwiches have always gone together…I mean – what’s not to like …for a guy who has to live the bachelor life...at least (for the time being) – and for many years before…they are – fast – inexpensive – portable and filling and you can eat them on the go in your truck on the way to work…I mean – what’s not to like – right? …If there’s meat – cheese and other goodies stuffed between two slices of bread… let’s face it – I like it - (most) guys do – I’m not sure the women in our lives like it so much…but sandwiches have been a “man staple for years” – come on - financial empires have been built on the “sandwich” … - it was and still is standard fare for brown – bagging – and in the summer time – it’s a quick and easy fix for sure…pull out the cold cuts (bologna an old school favorite) – slap some mustard on wheat – and you are good to go – all washed down with a big glass of cold milk – gotta have the milk – that’s key - gotta have the milk - it is a natural after all and good for your bones!

In a recent conversation with (her)…as she knows I am (very) challenged in the art of cooking anything that doesn’t involve a microwave or boiling in a bag (and even that is suspect) …I told her I could cook … and when I told her of my sandwich skills– she with a small and beautiful smile said – ... “oh baby – I’m sorry that’s not cooking – that’s called assembling” … lol!

So – (for her) – I’ve decided to branch out into the cooking arena – and you know have a healthier diet – as let’s face it – they aren’t the healthiest thing to eat by any stretch…so – in a recent trip to the grocery store –
I got lettuce and tomato to go with the bologna (I mean – that makes it a little healthier- right?) …
SO conversation goes something like this:

She: hi honey…what are you having for dinner tonight?
Me: Bologna
She: (small sigh)
Me: (but) … I’m going to have some chicken noodle soup with it J
She: (laughter) – Well…that makes me feel a little better…
Me: Why? It’s still bologna (and you hate that)…
She: Well…at least you are having a (side) with it…

____SO – what am I having for dinner tonight?

_______________Well…bologna – soup (and) just for her some fresh fruit (cause if one side is good – two makes it even better- right?).

So…she may be the best cook (ever) – and she is –(no doubts about that whatsoever) so I leave that to her…and she spoils me terribly – but when it comes to assembling a bologna sandwich – trust me – I got this. ... even I got Dagwood beat on this one…
