Reminds me of what I used to explain to my ex who had/has this incredible fear of death so intense that she'd have panic attacks at the thought of it:

I hope I die one second after you, holding you, so you don't have to leave this world alone, so you pass safely in my arms, knowing you were held and sincerely loved and treasured, knowing I was there for you. But I do hope that I die one second-- just one second-- after you do so I don't have time to "miss" you, to process it, to suffer the loss of not having you in my world.
