This is written from a femme of colour, but I think the issue transcends racial lines.
For me, it's deeply entrenched in Patriarchy. The more insidious truth about 'femme' or 'female' competition, is that it keeps women divided,
and from creating the true and possible bonds of sisterhood and friendship that will ultimately serve us FAR better, than competing for Butches, husbands, etc.etc.
