Mary Lambert (born May 3, 1989) is a Seattle-based singer-songwriter and spoken word artist. She first began gaining attention while working with the hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on their album The Heist, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. Lambert is the featured singer and songwriter of their gay-rights single, "Same Love". Lambert wrote the chorus' hook in two hours. The "Same Love" chorus draws on Lambert's experiences as a queer woman growing up in a tumultuous, Christian upbringing.
