I've never liked (most) Thanksgiving foods: not the turkey, or the dressing, or the cranberry salad, or most certainly not any fruits embedded in Jello. (and what the hell is up with that gelatinous cranberry grossness that comes straight out of the can?? My relatives never even bothered to dice it up, so I could still see the can's rings molded on the gelatin…) I've always felt a little sad when the holidays roll around and everyone gets so excited about how much they're going to gorge themselves, while I'm planning a hunger strike.

Well, until dessert. I do an about-face on my anti-holiday foods position when it comes to pumpkin pie.

So imagine my giddiness at being invited to a small post-Thanksgiving gathering in which only two food items will be served: Potato latkes and pumpkin pie.

Finally! A Thanksgiving meal to be thankful for. Thank you, Hanne!!
