A well known member of the local Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community who moved to Portland a few months ago and returned here Friday for a holiday visit has gone missing.

Frank Goldberg’s relatives are now appealing to Buffalo area residents to help them locate her after she disappeared on Monday from her brother’s home on the West Side of Buffalo. She was last seen at about 6:30 p.m. that day.

The 36-year-old Goldberg, whom friends from her past growing up in the South Towns would know as Aimee Goldberg, is described as about 5 feet, 5 inches in height, weighing 150 pounds, and with short graying blond hair. Described as a “tom boy” in her attire, Goldberg was last seen wearing a hunter green canvas coat with a hood, blue jeans, black laced boots and black wire framed eyeglasses.

Goldberg, relatives said, had been experiencing normal holiday stress when she went missing.

“We are hoping for a good outcome,” said Jesse Goldberg, her brother.

Northwest Police District detectives have received a missing person’s report on Goldberg and are working with the family to try and locate her.

Anyone who may have information about Goldberg’s whereabouts is asked to email relatives at FindFrankGoldberg@gmail.com or go to the Facebook page, Find Frank Goldberg, and post information.

Harmony Goldberg posted this heartfelt request on the social media page seeking help in locating her sister and providing additional information about her:

“Frank Goldberg – much loved sister, daughter, friend and community advocate – has been missing since the evening of Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, and her family needs your help to find her.

“Frank is a loving and strong person, and she is valued deeply by the people in her life. She is both gruff and gentle. She loves taking care of animals, especially cats. She has been an activist and an advocate in the LGBT community for many years, helping to build a transgender support group at Buffalo’s Pride Center, which has been a valuable space of support and community for dozens of people.

“She also has a long history of providing support and services for people with addictions and with harm reduction work in particular. Frank took her wallet that contained her identification and some cash, but she does not have her phone with her.

“We have filed a missing persons report with the police. Her family has notified her social networks, searched the places where she has tended to spend time, and we have been calling the hospitals and coroners’ offices daily. We now need the community’s support to find her.”
