I absolutely loved my mom's version of goulash. She made hers with elbow macaroni, hamburger meat and usually onions, peppers and a random bright colored veggie, be it red peppers or carrots, etc.
It was a simple dish but even after all these years, I still can't get mine to taste like hers.
