I will go first! Three years ago my oldest daughter wanted a pink digital camera even though she absolutely did NOT deserve anything at all. She went on and on about how she had better wake up to a shiny pink camera Christmas morning. Keep in mind. she was oh...24 at the time!
Christmas Eve I found the camera of mine she had played around with which was an old 5 megapixel Kodak, pulled out a bottle of pink nail polish and with great precision, proceeded to paint the camera, wrap it up, and lovingly place it under the tree!
I sat back waiting as my 5 year old son tore through his gifts from Santa and as I found the box within a box within a box and handed it to her I could barely hold my chuckles. She tore it open and was sooo excited! Whooping and hollering about the pretty pink color and so on. It took her almost 30 minutes to realize it was the old camera painted pink!
She stormed in the kitchen where I was demanding her *real* gift, I assured her that was her real gift and reminded her she had not once mentioned wanting a NEW pink camera-just a pink camera. To top it off, in one of her gifts from family there was a note that said "Oh, by the way, it is past the time to get your first job so here are some pens and a subscription to the local paper to get a jump start on the hunt to self sufficiency and buying the things you want on your own." It was hilarious! Did I mention she was almost 25!
