Today was cold. I'm walking fast, everywhere I go. Work was kind of ordinary. I edited one of C's article and we brainstormed a lot with each other about angles for things we're writing. I did a bunch of correspondence, setting up interviews and doing follow up. Just a quiet day. A little boring but in a kind of pleasant way. At lunch I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond with another friend at work. I got a red mug on sale and looked at electric kettles (but they're too expensive there!). After work I went uptown for a reading. My friend S read in a gallery, it was kind of new scene for me, the "salon" crowd—you have to RSVP because it's kind of small. The art was okay, not really my thing, a little too sterile and digital. But the readers were awesome! Saeed Jones, the editor of BuzzFeed LGBT, was one of the readers with my friend. They had a Q&A after each person. I finally got up the nerve to ask a question and asked one of the readers, If you could put poetry anywhere where it doesn't already have a presence, whether in media or a physical place, where would you put it? He said he would put it in everyone's conversations, the tough ones. Then when the whole things was over, I kind of ran out and marched a few blocks to the train. My cell phone died so I couldn't play games; fortunately I have a crossword puzzle in my bag. Then when I got off the train for my stop, I ran into a Starbucks to quickly change my high-heeled ankle boots for running shoes, and jogged the rest of the way home. It felt so good to get out of my clothes and brush my teeth and wash my face. I'm corresponding with a couple people, three actually, that I met online and I sent off a couple notes while watching a new episode of Looking from the corner of my eye. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday.
