Not complaining about the participant number, I can see why it is necessary. I just don't want to not have a project for so long if I'm not one of the lucky ones.

This was always my understanding as well. I certainly don't mind other folks wrangling a project at the same time as mine is going.

I think due to the scope of the matchbox shrines it would be best for folks not to participate in other pen pal thread projects at the same time.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong CCB) that CCB's project has so few slots for sign up that she's not having a closing date for sign up and is instead asking that anyone who signs up only do so if they know they will NOT be dropping out.

You are correct. I posted my project two weeks before the sign up date specifically because I want people to be VERY sure about the commitment before signing up. Since it's tailored to the other participants, and also because there aren't a lot of slots open I feel not dropping out/changing one's mind is important here.
