Thanks all for the welcomes!
Knight no, that is not Arabic. It comes from Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels - I am a member of a virtual Renunciate Guildhouse, and Esme nha Maire is my Renunciate name. it simply states that I, Esme, am the daughter of my mother, Maire, although I Gallicised her name to use as the last component of mine. For some years it was a lifeline to me, that online bunch of strong-minded women, and I took a form of the Oath in all seriousness and keep to it to the best of my ability, and always will.
