I love this!

Thank you for such a nice introduction to yourself!

One of my granddaughters was on the LA Junior Derby Dolls roller derby team for several years starting at age 8. They had teams for girls between the ages of 7-17. I loved going to her match-ups!

Roller Derby rocks, no matter the age!

She now loves acting in school musicals instead but it was a great experience for her.

Welcome to the Planet, I hope that you enjoy your time here!

(We don't have a roller skating smilie for some reason?!)

Tell us a little bit about yourselves!
I lucked into a relationship with a younger woman in my 30's, first time for both of us. That lasted somewhat over a decade but we drifted apart (still friends though). I was too nervous to approach the lesbian scene until my involvement with the roller derby scene (since the start of 2016) boosted my confidence, and since the start of 2017, i've been gradually spreading my wings, finding groups to join, and improving my social life.

I used to be obviously femme in appearance, but always had a bit of a tomboy streak to my character. Currently feeling comfy somewhere in the middle of the butch-femme spectrum. Not too fussed about nailing myself down with labels, I see them as more like place-names on a map I'm wandering around a bit on until I find a place I'm comfy at. Or maybe I'll just slowly wander around forever. I dunno! (shrugs, smiles)

Oh, and despite my age, am regarding myself as a teenager at the moment, because I didn't really do teens back when the calendar said I should (don't want to go into that now). Since I made the mental switch from "heck, what I'm going through now is kinda like me being teenage" to 'heck with it, I AM a teeanager" it's been rather liberating, and I've been enjoying life more. So yeah, the calendar says I'm 59. Socially - knock 40 years off that, and if I make any stupid teenage-type mistakes, now you know why - I'm still getting to grips with socialising with my peers. If I err, please correct me - I do learn from my mistakes! :-}

What excites you?
Science. Science fiction. Roller derby. Women. Cats. Food. Music. Visiting places when I can (can't drive). Not necessarily in that order :-}

Where are you in this big bold world?
The Midlands, UK

What are your hobbies?
Reading, roller derby (I'm an NSO, but working on my fitness in the hope I might be able to pass the skating minimum requirements skills list), walking, improving my fitness, writing poetry (mix of comedy and non-comedy)

What brought you here?
I can't recall exactly how I found out about BFP, but having looked over the forums, it seemed such a nice community, and I thought it'd be a good extra thing to join to help me find my place in the lesbian scene. :-)
